Hinduism.....

Hinduism is the oldest religion that mankind has ever known. It is also known by the name Sanatan Dharma -the Eternal Religion.Hinduism is not a man made religion nor was it founded by any group of individuals.

The sacred knowledge of the Vedas,Puranas and the Upanishads were propagated by the Avataras,Maharishis and other holy men and women. It developed into a way of life and not a social system manipulated by a few people seeking selfish gains.

Hinduism allows the freedom of thought, worship, faith and human reasoning. It does not subscribe to the falacy that spiritual liberation could only be achieved by it's doctrine only.Instead,it respects all other religions as a means of reaching the same goal.

Hinduism honours truth in whatever form it might appear in.It does not support corrupt politicians nor does it condone to fanaticism.Women are held in high esteem and their virtues and values are respected at the highest level.

Despite Mogul and British invasion and occupation of India and the attempts made by Canadian Missionaries in Trinidad to convert Hindus,Hinduism remains unshaken. It is a religion which does not depend on support from other doctrines.

Hindu indenture labourers who migrated to Trinidad,Guyana and Surinam held on to this great religion for the last century and a half. It's solid foundation of truth and goodwill, ethical teachings and deep spiritual values have taken Hindus in these parts of the world from colonialism into the technological age. It is not what the people have done for Hinduism but rather a case of what Hinduism has done for the people.

The more you know about this great religion, the more enlightenment and peace of mind it will bring to you.
